Job Title: Weights/Measurements Nursing Assistant

Job Summary

Working under the supervision of a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and following established procedures, the Weights/Measurements staff performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, escorting patients to exam room, taking vital signs and recording patient history for visits. The Weights/Measurements staff operates equipment including, but not limited to, the telephone system, computer, copier, fax machine, sterilization equipment and the Coulter MicroDiff. Essential duties include providing excellent customer/patient services and assisting the Nurse Practitioner and nurses as needed. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Take vital signs (weight, height, FOC, blood pressure and temperature) for all patients.
  2. Record patient history for “sick” visits, ie: chief complaint, duration of symptoms, medications given and time of last dose.
  3. Record patient history for “well child” visits and age appropriate education questions on form.
  4. Assist in keeping handouts copied and available for patients.
  5. Escort patients to exam rooms or lobby.
  6. If trained perform basic lab test as ordered by physicians.
  7. Check rooms; make sure they are very clean.
  8. When charts are up, pull the chart with the earliest time.
  9. Time and initial the chart when you pull the patient back and time and initial when workup is complete.
  10. When no charts are up, work on the following while always watching for new charts going up Patients always come first.
    a. clean and stock rooms and bathrooms b. clean and stock weight carts
  1. Report any supply shortages, before we are completely out, to Purchasing Department.
  2. Make sure each room is wiped down with disinfectant daily, including the exam table, countertop and top of instruments.
  3. Plate cultures at noon and closing.
  4. Adheres to all clinic policies on safety and security; maintains restricted areas by safeguarding keyless entry codes and computer system passwords.
  5. Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.
  6. Exercises problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  7. Attends scheduled department/staff/clinical meetings as required.
  8. And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
  2. Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills; cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
  3. Must be highly flexible; able to accommodate the changing needs of the department.
  4. Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
  5. Willingness to work some seasonal later clinic hours.
  6. Maintain attendance standards.
  7. Comply with clinic policies and procedures; attend required in-services and training.
  8. Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety rules and procedures.
  9. Practice careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies and time.
  10. Accept individual accountability for meeting or exceeding customer needs; take ownership of problems/requests and follows through to closure.
  11. Demonstrate ability to work effectively and professionally with medical providers, staff and community.

Education and Experience

  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent (must provide proof).
  2. Prefer experience in medical clinical setting.

A full time licensed RN needed at our Jasper location. We offer an excellent compensation package including salary, health insurance, paid time off and retirement plans. Uniforms are provided. Work hours include Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm with some seasonal after hour appointments. Weekends and all major holidays off.
