The Children’s Clinic of Rusk located at 1375 Dickinson Drive off of Highway N69 next to the ETMC clinic will open its doors to the public on Tuesday, December 19. Patients may call (903) 683-1300 to make an appointment and walk-ins are welcome. This new 2,500 square foot medical clinic will offer Rusk residents and surrounding areas a convenient, quality choice for pediatric care for their children. The clinic, decorated in bright primary colors has a patient friendly reception area stocked with a host of puzzles, books and bead mazes, 6 exam rooms, a state-of-the-art diagnostic lab and nursing station.
“Rusk is a community that deserves excellent pediatric healthcare,” said Dr. George Fidone, a pediatrician at the Children’s Clinic of Lufkin and co-owner of the Children’s Clinic of Rusk along with pediatrician, Dr. Jeffrey Glass. “Typically, parents have to travel many miles to receive quality healthcare for their children. This new clinic will now be in their backyard and will offer the same excellent level of pediatric care that our patients have come to expect from The Children’s Clinics family.”
The clinic will be staffed by Jami Hicks, a pediatric nurse practitioner who recently graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Jami has been training with Dr. Fidone and Dr. Glass for over two years. Jami, a native of Rusk, is eager to begin taking care of children in her community under the supervision of Dr. Fidone and Dr. Glass.
Joining Jami at the pediatric clinic is Jody McClosky, RN who is also a Rusk native with more than nine years of nursing experience. At the Children’s Clinic of Rusk, Jody will be responsible for clinic triage, referrals, performing labs and administering vaccines. Jami and Jody bring a wealth of medical knowledge, extensive training, and great affection for their community to the practice. They are dedicated to fulfilling our mission of growing healthy children to ensure healthy communities.
Open 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, the clinic offers well-child visits, sick-child visits, school, sports and camp physicals, all childhood immunizations and vaccinations, and on-site labs and services. The clinic accepts same-day appointments, particularly for sick children. Most insurance and Medicaid are accepted, with reasonable prices for patients who are out-of-network.
The Children’s Clinic of Rusk joins the family of the Children’s Clinic of Lufkin which has been serving the children of Deep East Texas medical needs for more than 25 years.
