Dr. Jeff Glass of The Children's Clinic, along with other Lufkin dignitaries, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of St. Cyprian's Episcopal School this month. Due to the increase in enrollment at the Christian-based school, coupled with the need for more space for their Dyslexia Therapy department, St. Cyprian's will be adding eight new classrooms, building a new dyslexia wing, and enlarging their cafeteria. "These new facilities will help the community by expanding the reach of our dyslexia training, and it will allow us to accept more students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade," explained Dr. Glass who served on the school board for six years during which time he was President for three years. After several years of surveying, developing plans, and writing up grants, Dr. Glass and current school board president, Bruce Love were instrumental in securing the $800,000 grant from the TLL Temple Foundation to help fund the $1,200,000 project. According to school officials, the new Dyslexia Therapy Wing will provide ample space with top technology for students who will have individualized curriculum and study one-on-one with a therapist. "Sending three children, one of whom has dyslexia, through St. Cyprian's, and seeing their success in middle and high school, I can attest to the excellent educational and moral foundation the school helped provide them," said Dr. Glass. The school hopes to achieve a 30% growth in their overall student population within the next four years. Both school officials and Dr. Glass praised the hard work and dedication of the administration, staff, parents, and students to supporting the growth and improvement of St. Cyprian's Episcopal School.
