With schools' starting dates just days away, the Children's Clinic at all locations will be having drawings for Nike Backpacks and Lego Crayons on Friday, August 10th. "We want kids to be excited about going back to school and these drawings for a new backpack will add to the excitement and importance of starting a new school year," says Jami Hicks, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Rusk. Parent are encourage to book a well checkup in order to start the school year out healthy and strong. Entries may be submitted at their child's appointment whether it's for well or sick visit.
Transitioning from summer time to school time is always a challenge but by following a few of these tips, the anxiety and stress may be lessen in order for your child to begin the year off smoothly.
- Book a well-child visit appointment and make sure your child is caught up on immunizations.
- Talk to your child about going back to school - stressing all the new experiences, learning and friends he/she will have to look forward to at school.
- Ease into a routine and stick to it throughout the school year.
- Make sure your child has a nutritious breakfast every day, and pack their lunches to include protein foods, fruit and vegetable.
- Stay engaged with your child's learning and help with homework.
- Compliment your child for the efforts they make in school.
